| Each year, our volunteers and staff members must drive all over San Mateo County and Santa Clara County to preview approximately 300 sites that apply for our programs. On National Rebuilding Day (last Saturday in April), we also have volunteer runners who are driving between the 70 homes and community facilities that we are repairing and various locations to pick up the supplies necessary to do the work. We end up printing tons of written directions and maps to keep up with the driving and are hopeful that providing GPS units for our volunteers and staff members to use will be more green and help the get to their destinations quickly and safely. |

This is needed to program various radios for emergency communications in our communities; for logging messages and events (MS Word and MS Excel) for packet (sending data via radio). |

| We need 10 small TVs that will be used to create a Plankton Lab in order for students to use the TV and a microscope to view and identify plankton. These are important as we are currently using one large screen and microscope for the whole classroom, which does not allow the children to be hands-on with this portion of the teaching in our shoreside programs, and we find that students learn and retain more when they are more actively involved through hands-on learning. |
