The International Institute of the Bay Area is a nonprofit organization serving the immigrant community since 1918. We offer a weekly class on Tuesdays from 4-7pm to help immigrant adults prepare to become U.S. Citizens. The multi-level ESL class teaches English language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and U.S. Government and History to individuals who are preparing to take their U.S. Citizenship interview. We are seeking volunteers to assist in our Citizenship Preparation Class.

Be a foster to kittens and cats!! Humanimal Connection
Humanimal Connection DESPERATELY needs fosters for our many kittens! As a foster-network rescue group, we cannot committ to rescuing kittens unless we have foster homes. Typically, families foster a litter of kittens for at least two weeks. Each litter is different, some need socialization, some are without the mother cat, and some require bottle-feeding. We will match your foster kitties to your personal capabilities. We provide the food, litter, litter box, bedding, and everything you need to foster the kitties. We provide medical treatments and routine vaccinations. You provide the kittens with a wonderful foster family and lots of love!

Helping care for our adoptable kitties at San Mateo Feed (346 El Camino Real in Redwood City). Morning & evening shifts needed. Volunteers play with the kitties, feed them, and help with adoptions Caring for our cats and kittens at Petco (1 hour a week). Morning shifts needed. Assistance at adoption fairs (occasional Saturdays) and helping to find forever homes for our kitties Help to feed at a small feral cat colony in Portola Valley (feeding takes approximately 15 minutes and is done once a day). Help sanitize carriers and cages so our kittens can stay healthy and happy (as per the volunteer's availability). Transportation of our cats to/from adoption fairs and medical appointments (5-10 miles) Distribution and maintenance of flyers/posters and other media Other administrative tasks. When you volunteer with Humanimal Connection you can: Gain community service hours for school Spend time with family or friends on a altruistic activity Add an extracurricular activity to your resume or college application Teach your children about the responsibilities of pets before bringing one into your home Get to spend time with kittens and cats!

As a Volunteer Driver, you will transport a small group of students, one afternoon a week, to their apprenticeships. By volunteering with us, you will be providing the vital link between our students and their dreams. Without you, students whose parents can’t drive them will have a difficult time fully participating in the program. We need you! Plus, there are many benefits for you! Not only do you get the opportunity to give back to your community, you also get to fill a crucial role in a nationally-recognized non-profit and interact with a diverse, enthusiastic group of middle school kids. In order to participate, you must have a valid driver’s license. You are not required to provide your own vehicle.
